What will the school day look like at OVMS?

Please review this page for information about our new safety and wellness procedures for what school will look like when we return. These ideas are subject to change.

 

  • Campus will open at 7:45am.
  • Temperatures will be taken daily for students, staff, and any visitors when they enter the campus.
  • Students will make their way directly to their advisory base class.
  • The first bell rings at 7:55am. The first class begins at 8:00am.
  • Entrances into campus will be monitored.
  • There are two entrances in the front of the school, one entrance from Mary Ann Cleveland, and one from the bus bay for bus riders.

  • Classrooms with desks will be spread out to maximize social distancing.
  • Classrooms with tables will have students spaced as far away as possible.
  • Cleaning of desks, tables, and common areas will be conducted at regular intervals by the classroom teacher with hospital grade sanitizing solution.
    • In addition, regular deep cleanings of classrooms will be completed each evening.
  • Students and staff will have access to a cleaning station and/or multiple hand sanitizing stations in each classroom.

  • Student flow of traffic will be regulated within inside buildings (500 building, MPR, gym, etc.)
  • Student movement between the rest of the classrooms will be monitored so that social distancing requirements are met.

  • Free time after students eat lunch will be monitored.
  • Large group activities (more than 10 students) will be discouraged and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

  • Three grade-level lunch periods with social distancing considerations.
  • Two points of sale with “grab and go” options will be made available to students.
  • Multiple shaded seating arrangements will be monitored outside.
  • Some limited space will be made available in the MPR for students that have medical issue with sitting outside.
  • Groups of students will be monitored and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

  • Sharing of materials will be limited between students, especially in art and band classrooms.
  • In addition, large band classes will be configured to minimize exposure and maximize instructional time.
  • Social distancing considerations will be followed in all specials classrooms.

  • Dismissal bell will be at 1:55 pm.
  • Students will be monitored to ensure that they exit campus promptly.
